2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Account Information: When you register, we collect your username, email address, and password.
• Usage Information: We collect information about how you use our service, including uploaded images, access times, and features used.
• Device Information: We collect information about the device you use to access our service, including IP address, browser type, and operating system.
• Image Metadata: For all uploads (including encrypted images), we collect file metadata such as file size, dimensions, file type, and upload timestamp. Note: We automatically strip EXIF metadata (GPS coordinates, camera information, timestamps, device identifiers) from uploaded images to protect your privacy - see Section 2.1 below.
• Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies and similar technologies to enhance your experience and collect usage data.

2.1 Image Processing & EXIF Removal

To protect your privacy, we automatically process uploaded images to remove embedded metadata (EXIF data). This includes:

• GPS Coordinates: Location data that could reveal where a photo was taken.
• Camera Information: Device make, model, and serial numbers.
• Timestamps: When the photo was originally taken.
• Software Information: What software was used to edit the image.
• Thumbnail Data: Embedded preview images that may contain uncropped content.

We preserve color profile (ICC) data to ensure your images display with accurate colors. Animated GIFs are not processed to preserve animation frames.

3. Password Protection

Imgixie offers password protection for individual images:

• How It Works: You can set a custom password on any image from your dashboard. Visitors will need to enter this password to view the image.
• Storage: Image passwords are securely hashed before storage. The image content itself is NOT encrypted - password protection only controls access.
• Access Duration: Password access expires when you close your browser.

4. End-to-End Encryption

Imgixie offers optional end-to-end encryption for individual images:

• How It Works: When you encrypt an image from your dashboard, it is encrypted in your browser before being uploaded. Only you (or someone you share the password with) can decrypt and view encrypted images.
• Zero-Knowledge: We never receive, store, or have access to your encryption password or the unencrypted content of your encrypted images.
• No Password Recovery: We cannot recover encrypted images if you forget your password. Lost passwords mean permanently inaccessible images.
• Metadata Visibility: File metadata (size, dimensions, timestamps, filename) is not encrypted and remains visible to us for service operation.

5. Image Visibility Options

You can control who can access your images:

• Public: Anyone with the direct link can view the image.
• Private: Only you can view the image when logged in.
• Password-Protected: Anyone with the image password can view it. As the owner, you can view your own password-protected images when logged in.
• Encrypted: The image is end-to-end encrypted. Only someone with the encryption password can decrypt and view it.

6. Galleries

You can create galleries to organize and share collections of images:

• Gallery Data: We store gallery names, descriptions, and which images belong to each gallery.
• Password Protection: Gallery passwords are securely hashed before storage. We cannot recover forgotten gallery passwords.
• Session Cookies: When you access a password-protected gallery, we store a session cookie (expires after 7 days) so you don't need to re-enter the password.
• Share Links: Each gallery has a unique share code for sharing. Anyone with the link can access unprotected galleries.

7. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

• To provide and maintain our service
• To authenticate your account and ensure secure access
• To improve and personalize your experience
• To analyze usage patterns and optimize performance
• To communicate with you about service updates and changes
• To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents

8. Data Storage and Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

• IP Address Protection: IP addresses collected during uploads are encrypted at rest in our database.
• Password Security: All passwords are securely hashed before storage.
• Secure Transmission: All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS).

While we take reasonable precautions to protect your data, no security measure is 100% effective.

9. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. However, some information may be retained for legal or legitimate business purposes.

Note on Encrypted Images: We cannot share the contents of your end-to-end encrypted images with anyone, including law enforcement, because we do not have access to the encryption keys or unencrypted content.
