Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Imgixie service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the service.

2. Description of Service

Imgixie provides an image hosting service that allows users to upload, store, and share images. The service includes optional password protection and end-to-end encryption features for individual images. The service may be modified, updated, or changed at any time without prior notice.

2.1 Image Processing

By uploading images to Imgixie, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • EXIF Removal: We automatically strip EXIF metadata (GPS coordinates, camera information, timestamps, device identifiers) from uploaded images to protect user privacy.
  • Auto-Rotation: Images are automatically rotated based on their original orientation data before metadata is removed.
  • Color Profiles: ICC color profiles are preserved to ensure accurate color display.
  • Animated GIFs: GIF files are not processed to preserve animation.

This processing is automatic and cannot be disabled. If you need to preserve original metadata, do not upload to this service.

3. Password Protection Feature

Imgixie offers password protection for individual images. By using this feature, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

  • Sharing: You can set a custom password for any image to share with specific people.
  • Owner Access: As the image owner, you can view your own password-protected images when logged in without entering the password.
  • Access Duration: Password access expires when you close your browser.
  • Not Encryption: Password protection controls who can access an image but does not encrypt the image content on our servers.

4. End-to-End Encryption Feature

Imgixie offers optional end-to-end encryption for individual images (enabled per-image from your dashboard). By using this feature, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

  • Password Responsibility: You are solely responsible for remembering your encryption password. We do not store it and cannot recover it.
  • No Recovery: If you lose your encryption password, your encrypted images will be permanently inaccessible. We cannot decrypt your images under any circumstances.
  • Browser Requirements: End-to-end encryption requires a modern browser and a secure (HTTPS) connection.
  • Metadata: While image content is encrypted, metadata (file size, dimensions, upload time) is not encrypted.

5. Gallery Feature

Imgixie allows you to create galleries to organize and share collections of images:

  • Password Protection: You can optionally password-protect galleries. Gallery passwords are hashed server-side.
  • Share Links: Each gallery has a unique share URL. Anyone with the link can access unprotected galleries.
  • Session Duration: Gallery password sessions expire after 7 days.
  • Deletion: Deleting a gallery does not delete the images within it.

6. User Accounts

Some features of the service require a user account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account information and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

7. User Content

You retain ownership of any content you upload to Imgixie. However, by uploading content, you grant Imgixie a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and display the content in connection with providing the service.

You agree not to upload content that:

  • Violates any laws or regulations
  • Infringes on the intellectual property rights of others
  • Contains harmful or malicious code
  • Contains pornographic, obscene, or offensive material
  • Harasses, threatens, or invades the privacy of others

8. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use the service to:

  • Engage in any unlawful or abusive activities
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Interfere with the operation of the service
  • Collect or store personal data about other users
  • Transmit any viruses, malware, or other harmful code
  • Use encryption features to hide illegal content (encryption does not exempt you from legal obligations)

9. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your account and access to the service at any time, without prior notice or liability, for any reason. Upon account termination, all your data including encrypted images will be deleted.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Imgixie shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the service.

We are not liable for any data loss resulting from forgotten passwords or any issues arising from the use of encryption features. You use these features at your own risk.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms of Service at any time. Your continued use of the service after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms of Service.
